This morning the Sweet Peas joined us for circle time. We examined the seeds we planted two weeks ago. We noticed that the roots are growing down but there is also something green growing up. Alexander thought it was grass growing and Oliver was convinced that vegetables all grow in the ground and you pull them up from the ground.
We also played the prediction game and Isabel helped place two cubes in the jar and then we added "some." After all the children guessed, Isabel then helped count how many were in the jar. Then we figured out how many we added!
Since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to visit the Jackson Square Park to see the flowers. The children were inspired by their surroundings as Isabel, Alex, Lukas and Evan all painted flowers (specifically daffodils) and Ava,Sam, Ryan and Oliver all made animal tracks across their pages.
Upon our return, Mr. Rebecca worked on Number Books with Jake, Ashley, Eli and Ava (Ms. Erica worked on these with Evan and Sam earlier). Isabel and then Ava and Ashley drew self-portraits on canvas and then painted them in with watercolor. Meanwhile on the rug, Ryan Casey worked with Lukas and Oliver and built buildings and rocket ship stations.
Today the Daisies had lunch with the Sunflowers and the Daisies taught the Sunflowers how to play the sticker game. Oliver gave a wonderful explanation of the game and the Sunflowers caught on right away!
