Today is Ryan Q's birthday! Happy Birthday Ryan! Our morning circle meeting was dedicated to Ryan with a few birthday troll games as well as some singing. We were lucky enough to have both Ryan's parents join us for the morning. Ryan's mom Jennifer read both The Secret Birthday Message and Press This Button. Then Ryan was presented with a birthday card and a gift. When Ryan saw his gift, he saw, "wow" and smiled. We danced to Rocket-ship Run before French.
Today was the last French class of the year so the children said au'revoir and gave Deborah a big hug. While Deborah was having French with the first group, Luca built a large tunnel using the quad-longs and chairs to prop them up on and Jake wrote a sign that said, "don't climb up" while Ryan Q, Tate and Mason started off in the sand table. Then Margot and Luca took the car on a trip to "a fashion show" and Ava made a wire, bead sculpture. On the other table, Ms. Rebecca worked with Isabel, Eli, Margot, Mason, Tate, Sasha and Ryan Q on acrylic paintings.
When we switched, Oliver, Ashley, Lukas and Alex made wire sculptures while Matthew spent a long time on his acrylic painting. He was careful in the placement of the brush and what colors he used.
On the rug, Ryan Casey and Sam worked on adding to their train tracks and then Ryan Q added to it as well. Nearby, Mason, Jake and Eli used blocks from the Daisies room on the table in the Sunflowers room to build bridges and tunnels for cars. In the doctor's office, Dr. Tate, Dr. Sasha and Dr. Margot were hard at work treating fevers for numerous incoming patients.
During lunch the Daisies talked about what songs we might want to sing for graduation and the Sunflowers read The Very Busy Spider. Then we sang Happy Birthday again to Ryan Q and ate watermelon and cupcakes baked in ice cream cones! Thanks you Jen and Tim for spending the morning with us and bringing in tasty treats!
