Yesterday Ryan Q cut himself with the scissors and it bled. Many children saw this and seemed upset and concerned so today during morning meeting we talked about how they felt when they saw Ryan crying. Ava said "I was feeling sad and hope he feels a lot better." We reassured the children that Ryan would be okay and that he would be returning to school on Monday as good as new!
We had dance with Elizabeth while some of the other children talked about Ava's birthday. They decided to make her a castle and got right to work! Jake and Ashley started working with wood pieces and glued them together while Ryan Casey, Sam and Eli made a castle on the rug with the blocks.
When all he children were together, Alexander and Sam did their self-portraits and Ashley, Jake, Izzie and Eli made tiny acrylic paintings.
On the rug, Evan started cutting paper which was suppose to be "blocks for Lightning to play with." This apparently caught the eye of the other children who then began to cut paper all over the rug/castle also.
On another table we did yarn paintings (see pictures). The spray bottles were a bit challenging to press so this project got a little messy but they came out beautiful.
In the writing center, Isabel made raspberry pancakes (with paper and markers) for Oliver which turned into pancakes for Lighting. Sam joined in and made chocolate chip pancakes.
