Snow and ice!

We started off the morning by putting ice in the sensory table. Evan, Ryan Oliver and then Lukas and Eli had fun smashing the ice with hammers and coloring it with the eye droppers. Then as the ice was melted we decided to go outside and collect some fresh snow off the cars to bring it inside.

After clean up we had morning meeting as usual and sang good morning. Then we acted out Five Brown Buns in the Bakery Shop and Matthew took away one bun/child after each verse. After we sang a few songs we talked about what an experiment is and the effect of salt on snow and ice. Then we put water in two containers and then placed a piece of  yarn in each and salt in only one. We sang a few songs and then came back to the containers to see that the yarn had attached to the ice cubes and we were able to lift up the  ice cubes.

During work time Rebecca, Sasha, Ryan, Luca, Ava, Margot worked on creating Mason's portrait out of magna-tiles while Ms. Erica worked on ice, salt and yarn experiments at the table. The children were amazed when they succeeded in picking up the ice cubes with yarn. Meanwhile Margot and Sasha took a bath in the ublick.


On the table, Edwin worked with Sam, Jake, and Isabel and wrote cards for Mason. Then Jake and Mason sat with Rebecca and wrote stories and illustrated them.

At one point Ashley and Eli went outside and we got more snow and the children added more color to it.

For lunch the Daisies changed jobs and talked about Oliver's inventions. The Sunflowers also changed jobs.
