We said good morning by passing around a heart and asking the friend sitting next to us if they would like to be our valentine. Then we talked about who we love. Margot said, "I love my mommy and daddy and Riley (her sister)" and Sam said, "I love my grandma and my daddy and my mommy" and then he added "I love you, Alex" giving Alex a big hug. Soon lots of children were expressing their love for their friends; Lukas told Oliver he loved him and Isabel told Ashley she loved her.
Then Eli's dad, Rob, came in to be our surprise reader and read us two books: Octopus Alone and I Love You Because You're You. Eli was so excited to have his dad come in, he proudly told Lakshmi about his visit during yoga.
While the Sunflowers had yoga, the Daisies class made special valentine's gifts for their parents (check your child's lunch box or backpack). The children dipped pretzels in chocolate which the teachers helped them wrap. Then the two groups switched.
We had a brief freeplay before our Valentine's Day celebration. Jake and Ashley built a castle in the block area and Oliver, Mason and Tate had a mini dance party on the blue rug. Then everyone sat together as we exchanged valentine's.
During lunch the Daisies had show and tell and the Sunflowers read What Is Love? At the very end of the day, Ava passed out cupcakes she made to everyone in school. And as everyone left school, Mason passed out M&Ms he brought for everyone.
Thanks to all the parents for helping make valentine's and yummy treats for us to share today! And a special thanks to Rob for coming in to read! Have a wonderful long weekend- we'll see you Wednesday.
