Happy Half Birthday Margot!

Today we celebrated Margot's half birthday! We started off the morning with birthday festivities that included an appearance from the birthday troll as well as birthday songs. Then the children gave Margot special cards they made for her as well as a large class card and then she was presented with her gift which was a pink cake with Margot's portrait draw on it with frosting!

After the gift giving, Aliciane Margot's Mom read Fancy Nancy to the class and then we all had birthday cake! Then the Sunflowers class had a dance party where we danced on the tables (while holding a teacher's hand).

Each class had yoga with Lakshmi and then we opened the doors for free play! In the Daisies classroom, Isabel and Sam got right to work painting the bear costume and Oliver created two structures that he could jump over which later turned into a birdhouse.  Alexander and Sam then helped Oliver in the block corner. Later on, Isabel, Lukas, and Alex enjoyed how the clay felt on their hands in the sensory table while Evan built a jet way with magna tiles and then a round train track on the ground.

In the Sunflowers room, dramatic play was the activity of the day! Mason, Tate, Lukas, Jake, Margot and Ryan Q. were helping Mason's Mimi and Pop Pop (dolls) find a car to visit Mason when suddenly an onslaught of wild animals overran the house. Tate and Jake worked to eradicate them with limited success- Lukas' alligator was very persistent. Eli, Ashley and Ava pretended to be a family dropping Ava off on her very first day of kindergarten. Sasha, Ryan Q. and Margot helped dress bears and dolls at one of the tables.

At the end of the morning, Lukas's mom Francisca surprised the Daisies and read The Three Little Pigs in Spanish and English.

During lunch Alexander did Show and Tell since we didn't have time earlier and we talked about what we are doing this upcoming weekend. The Sunflowers read The Very Busy Spider per Margot's request and took a poll of what was for lunch.
