Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for our portfolio morning today! All of the children were thrilled to share all of the hard work they've done so far this year.
We had a brief morning meeting before the Sunflowers had yoga and the Daisies had a special surprise. Rebecca's sister, Abby, came in to read the book Bunny Cakes and we made apple sandwiches. We cut the core of sliced apples out with a cookie cutter and then put peanut butter and raisins between the two apple pieces for a yummy sandwich. Then the two groups switched.
At freeplay, many of the children used the straws and connectors to create various machines including Luca who created a "very noisy airplane" which rescued people from fires. At the table Margot, Sasha, Ava, Isabel and Ashley helped Erica use recycled materials to make numbers on large canvases. In dramatic play Isabel and Tate wrapped Ava in blankets so they could give her a (pretend) haircut.
During lunch Abby read What Food Is This? to the Sunflowers class and we had a guessing game about different types of food. One question was, what kind of food grows underground? (Ryan Q. exclaimed, "Carrots!"). The Daisies had show and tell.
