We had morning meeting separate today and the Sunflowers talked about Jake and what they should use to make his portrait and the Daisies (plus Jake) sang some songs and then rolled the feelings box and sang If You're Happy and You Know It. Then Oliver helped us read Sad Monster, Glad Monster by putting up a mask for each page. Then per Lukas's request, we read Pete the Cat and his 4 Groovy Buttons. We pretended the poly spots were buttons and took/threw one away after each page.
After each class had yoga, we combined again and while Rebecca worked on patterns. She created color and directional patterns for the children to follow. Then some of the children decided to make their own patterns. On the other table, Ms. Erica worked with Oliver, Isabel, Alex, and Jake as they wrote the numbers in on their watercolor clocks. Alex wrote all the numbers on his clock and then later showed it for Show and Tell. Then Sasha, Mason, Margot, Ava and Ashley painted watercolor clocks and then later Sasha, Matthew, Tate and Lukas made watercolor paintings on another piece of paper.
On the rug, Alex, Jake, and Evan made subways with the legos.
Isabel, Ashley, Sam, Ryan, Oliver, Ava and Eli were busy in the dramatic play area.
At one point, the dramatic play space was full, but Tate and Matthew wanted to repair the elevator there. Rebecca suggested they make their own elevator on the blue rug and brought down a large box the children could climb in. Tate and Eli made emergency buttons so the elevator could get to the emergency. Luca put dollhouse people inside and helped them ride up and down in the elevator.
During lunch the Daisies worked on patterns and the Sunflowers worked on patterns and read In the Night Kitchen.
