Happy Half-Birthday Jake!

Today everyone was excited to celebrate Jake's 3 and 1/2 birthday! When Ryan Q. came into school, he thought we should decorate the school with ornaments in honor of Jake. Tate, Eli, Sam, Margot and Isabel also made birthday cards for Jake's birthday

During morning meeting, the birthday troll came out to play Round and round the birthday troll goes. Then, while the Daisies had French the Sunflowers had freeplay and worked on self-portraits. Afterwards the Sunflowers had French and the Daisies discussed making a book of numbers out of recyclable materials.

The room was abuzz in anticipation of our surprise reader, Jake's mom Ju Nie who read us Jake's favorite book about a very hungry dinosaur. Then Jake opened his present from his friends- the portrait they made of him out of salt dough!

During freeplay, many of the children used straws and connectors to make wands, water shooters and trains. Sam made a magic wand and Matthew and Lukas made water shooters. Rebecca got soaked from all the water shooters, so Luca made a special fan to dry her and Margot made a towel. In dramatic play, Isabel was a mom, Sam was a dad and Ava was a baby for whom they built a high chair by placing a chair on top of a hollow block.

At lunch, everyone enjoyed pizza in honor of Jake. Jake made three book requests, The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear, Leo the Late Bloomer and In the Night Kitchen.
