Happy Birthday Evan!

Everyone in the Daisies and Sunflowers classes were so excited to celebrate Evan's 4th birthday! We started the morning off singing some of Evan's favorite songs. Then the birthday troll made a thrilling guest appearance and we played two rounds of Around, around the birthday troll goes (similar to hot potato). t Then Evan was presented with cards and gifts for his birthday.

The Daisies and Sunflowers then split up. The Daisies sang Happy Birthday to Evan and enjoyed some delicious cupcakes before having yoga while the Sunflowers had French. Then the Daisies had French and the Sunflowers had yoga.

During freeplay, in the Sunflowers room, a group of a children built roads, bridges and ramps for cars out of the hollow blocks. They tried various arrangement until they found a mutually agreeable set-up. Then Margot started sliding down the blocks pretending she was a car and her friends followed suit. Also Tate and Matthew tried repair a broken elevator; I'm not sure if this was ever fixed.

In the Daisies room Evan, Mason and Sasha worked with the dump trucks and shovels at the sand table. Izzie and Ryan worked for a long time writing letters with beads. They did about 5 letters each. Alex and Izzie drew with cars that had markers attached to it. This was later given to Evan for his birthday. Also on the rug, Evan, Matthew and Sam played with the trains. Evan's train was a metro north train and Matthew's was a subway train.

During lunch the Daisies read Evan's book, The  Snail and the Whale.
