We started off morning meeting together and we sang a bunch of familiar songs. When we finished singing we talked about our highs and low of the weekend and then Ms. Rebecca read, Giraffes Can Dance.
After morning meeting we danced to Laurie Berkner's Goldfish and Rocketship Run songs.
Evan came today and the children played a version of musical chairs where they were forced to share a seat with their friends. Evan also told the children a story about a town called Quiet Town where everyone had to be quiet.
Then we talked about time. The children seem to notice when it's 12 o'clock and many of the children are interested in the timer and what time it is so we decided to make a human clock and talk about the minute hand and the hour hand. Then with their bodies the children showed me the different times by being the hour hand and pointing their body toward that number. Later on the table, Ms. Rebecca worked on number recognition and number tracing with the children. Mason and Isabel took on the additional challenge of forgoing the dotted numbers for tracing and tried making a clock by writing the numbers on all by themselves.
In the Daisy's class we worked with wire and clay and Luca, Eli, Ashley, Jake and Ava all created sculptures be bending wire into clay. At the sand table, Sasha, Mason, Evan and Ryan Casey worked with the dump-trucks and made piles of sand.
Oliver used tape and construction paper and made something that "traps zombies and bad guys." He wrote the word TRAP on it.
