Let's talk about Sasha

Today we split the group up and Rebecca worked with Ashley, Jake, Ryan Q and Margot on a Birthday gift for Sasha. She talked with them about what they noticed about Sasha and things they like about her. Margot said, "Sasha is nicer, just like you." We read Faces to get ideas for how we wanted to make her portrait. We decided to use markers and recycled collage materials.

Meanwhile in the Daisy's classroom, Erica had morning meeting with the remaining children. We sang friendship songs and acted out Five Brown Buns in the Bakery Shop. Then we talked about unit and square blocks. We made a tower using these and then talked about the importance or unbuilding. Then each child took a block and we unbuilt the structure.

For work time Izzie, Ava, Ryan C., and Sam created a structure with long pieces of construction paper. Then Sasha, Ava, Sam, Izzie, Eli and Ashley made collages using recycled material. At one point, Ryan Q and Mason had a long conversation with Lightning and made different sounds with mouths to try to talk to her. They Ryan Casey and Lukas joined and they tried to make sounds encouraging her to fly out.

Later in the morning, Evan, Ryan Q. Sam, Lukas and Ryan C created a slide using the planks. They took different types of smaller size blocks and slid them down one by one. They were taking turns and cooperating nicely. This play turned into a game as I heard the children say, " yes, now it's your turn, go!"
