Glue and Self-Portraits

During  morning meeting today we acted out Five brown buns in the bakery shop and then we talked about vowels and sang I like to eat apples and bananas. The children thought these songs were funny. Then we read King Biggood is in the bathtub which they also thought was very funny!

For work time, we started self-portraits and worked on a birthday card for Sasha. At one point, Ryan C, Sam and Evan created a post-office with the large hollow blocks. At one point, the Sweet Peas joined us and taught us how to make our own glue in the sensory table. We then worked on a collaborative collage using that glue.

For reflection meeting we talked about the broken book and broken cup we discovered during work time. The reading center will now be closed tomorrow until we figure out how to use this area in a more respectful way.

During lunch the Daisies played the prediction game with small chocolate coins and the Sunflowers took a "What's For Lunch" poll and talked about the different kinds of food we like to eat.

When the children were finished eating, they cleaned up and sat in circle in the Sunflower's room on the rug. We sang a good-bye song and dismissed the children one-by-one. This is a new routine we will be enforcing everyday now in order to a create a less chaotic, safer dismissal while at the same time giving children closure to the day.
