Let's Talk About Birthdays!

During our morning meeting today we had our first discussion about birthdays and talked about how we like to celebrate our birthdays. Many children said they like to receive presents and have cake and others said they like to blow out candles. After out meeting we danced to Laurie Berkner's song, Goldfish. When it was finished the children asked to play it again and again.

During our work time Isabel, Sam, Evan and Lukas talked about what they like about Ryan and they created a portrait of him using black marker and watercolor. This will be presented to him on Monday for his birthday.

Meanwhile in the Sunflowers room, Eli, Alex, Ryan, Ava, Ashley, Jake and Rebecca read about different kinds of fish. Ryan asked, "Do we have any fish in the Hudson River?" Alex and Eli went on to paint pictures of fish. Over the course of the morning Jake, Ava and Ashley took on the roles of father, baby and mother and maintained those roles as they moved through various areas of the classroom.
