We split up for yoga and Ms. Erica took the Daisies (minus Alex) and we talked about his birthday and his birthday gift. We decided on Wednesday that we were going to make his portrait out of a pumpkin so today we voted on the shape of his features. The children then explored the pumpkin guts in the sensory table and took out the seeds for me. When we finished with the pumpkin the Daisies had yoga too.
After yoga, Matthew, Jake, Sasha and Mason painted their costumes and Ryan Casey, Sam and Izzie, helped decorate a card for Alexander. Ava, Ashley and Tate were a family in dramatic play and Mason, Margot, Sasha and Luca collaborated on an elaborate Lego house.
During lunch both classes talked about our upcoming field trip to Central Park. We looked at Thursday's Home section of the New York Times where there were photographs of changing leaves and plants. We talked about some of the changes we predicted would happen outside this fall and discussed how we will be going to Central Park to observe these changes first hand.
