We started the day in the Sunflowers room. Eli and Sam worked together with the clay, adding water and rubbing it on their arms and even faces. Ashley, Jake and Izzie set up a cafe in the science center. Ashley worked on her magnet tile laptop, Jake served ice cream and Izzie insisted they all eat more carrots that she had made out of magnet tiles. Lukas, Ryan, Evan, Alexander and Oliver rolled acorns across a large piece of paper with paint on it, to create acorn art.
Mid-morning everyone flocked in Erica's room to look for Lightning who had flown out of her cage to the space above the teacher's closet. Evan said, "I think she's too scared to fly. How will she get down?" The children came up with many ideas for how we could help her down. Jake said, "Maybe Buzz Lightyear can help her. He has wings and he can fly." Evan said we should call 911. Eli suggested, "Maybe we could get a ladder." and then he added, "I know, maybe she's trying to get home where all the other birds are."
During lunch, Evan noticed that Matthew was not in class today because we were not using his placemat so we then added 7+1 to figure out how many children are in the Daisies class total.
After lunch, Ashley and Jake both read books aloud to the Sunflowers class.
