Feeding Lightning (Part 3)

Before morning meeting Lightning flew out of her cage. The children immediately stopped what they were doing and ran over to see her. Ashely then mentioned that we should build a bird house for her.
During morning meeting today we sang some apple songs and some children talked about the bird houses they made out of blocks yesterday (the pictures were up on the board).

Then we were visited by our first surprise reader! Luca's grandma came and read a book about a silly bird to the class. The children sat and listened attentively to this book as she read.

During work time, some children that were not here yesterday  made pizza for Lightning while the others brought Lightning out for some fresh air. While we were outside, Ryan Casey wrote the whole alphabet with chalk as Evan, Matthew and Alex decorated the tree bark. Meanwhile, Ashley, Sasha, Jake, Izzie and Ava painted with watercolor.

During lunch, the Daisies played the prediction game with gummy bears. I placed one bear in the jar and "added some" and children then guessed how many gummy bears were in the jar. The Sunflowers read Llama Llama Red Pajama and then at the children's request Llama Llama Misses Mama and Ava laughed uproariously at all the rhyming.
