So what should we do with this cardboard box?

Today we said hello and named a body part! Then we talked about flowers and spring and how we can tell that spring is coming! Ava said that it "it gets warmer and warmer and the flowers grow and you can were a cool dress like mine" and Oliver said, "flowers grow." Then we read Alison's Zinnia which is an alphabet book that mentions a different flower for each letter of the alphabet.

Then Lakshmi came and we split the children up so half had yoga and the other half talked about the large cardboard box the Eli brought in. "If we want to use this as part of our doctor's office, what could this box be used as?" we asked the children. The consensus was to use the box as an ambulance. We then talked about what an ambulance would need. Oliver thought we would need a siren and Jake said we would need a steering wheel and buttons! Ashley agreed that we would need buttons and Tate said it needed doors and Luca was pretty sure that it should go really fast.

Then Ryan's dad came in and read "a really silly book" according to Ryan. Ryan made sure to tell his friends that the book was "really silly" numerous times during the story and he watched intently at the faces of his friends to make sure they were laughing at appropriate parts of the book.

We all came together at around 10:50 and worked in the Daisies classroom. Lighting flew out and the children went wild! She watched Margot and Matthew trace letters and she even tried to paint!

Many children painted flowers with the pastel colors and asked what kinds of flowers were on the table. Then the flowers ended up all over the room again. Evan painted tulips "and a lovely sun" for his family and later on he drew a tulip garden for his mom and daddy.

On the rug, Ryan started a structure that he said was to clip Lightning's wings. Matthew, Lukas and Alex added to it and it turned it into a castle. In the writing center Ashley and Jake made signs and taped them to Popsicle sticks.

Before Show and Tell, the Daisies (minus Oliver) talked about what we should create as his birthday gift.

During lunch the Daisies talked about international week and gave Alexander extra comments about his Show and Tell. The Sunflowers reread Ryan's silly book, If All the Animals Came Inside. Thank you Tim for introducing us to this wonderful book and coming in to read!
