"A mini explosion!"

This morning we sang Who Took the Cookie From the Cookie Jar to greet each other. Then we had a discussion about what doctors should do and say when patients enter the office. We've noticed that this past week there have been a few doctors so eager to treat their patients, they didn't ask them what their symptoms were first. Ryan Casey suggested the doctors ask their patients, "What's wrong with you?" or "What happened?"

During work time at the clay table Evan painted his coil tea pot green and Ryan Q made a harmonica with his clay while Sam, Eli, Sasha and Margot practiced making coils.

Isabel and Ava gave a "Frozen concert" to Oliver and Sam who sat very attentively while the girls sang.

On the rug, Evan, Tate, Ryan Q, Ryan C, Matthew, Jake and Lukas made a tug boat with the large hollow blocks while Ms. Rebecca worked on self-portraits with Sasha, Mason, Tate, Ryan Q., Luca and Margot. Ryan Q. drew himself as a race car "because I love racing cars." When Margot finished her self-portrait, she told Rebecca, "That's the greatest picture ever!"

On another table we had trays of baking soda and then jars with vinegar mixed with food coloring with eye droppers in them. As the children watched the reaction of the baking soda and vinegar, their eyes lit up in amazement. Ryan Casey thought it looked like "an earthquake" and Evan said, "A mini explosion! Wow, that's the biggest thing I've ever seen."

Oliver solved a problem between Isabel and Ava among other problems throughout the morning. At one point, Isabel had to close the doctor's office because the children were not treating the materials with respect. We had to then talk about this during a reflection meeting before clean-up.

During lunch the Daisies requested the "Sticker Game" again we played it twice! They are really getting the hang of it only after two days of practice. The Sunflowers requested a scary story, so we read The Three Little Pigs and the children helped Rebecca say, "Not by the hairs on our chinny, chin, chin!"
