Happy St. Patrick's Day!

There was a flurry of green here at Buckle My Shoe this morning. Eli and Isabel helped make some green play dough with Rebecca which we used later that day. At morning meeting, we said hello by rolling a green ball to each of our friends. Then we read a book about St. Patrick's day.

While the Sunflowers had music, the Daisies made shamrocks using a stencil, watercolor spray paint and glitter. The block area was also very busy. Sam, Lukas, Isabel, Matthew and Ryan Casey made a building that Oliver hoped would reach all the way to the ceiling. Then there was a big debate about whether all buildings have names the way that the building that Ryan Casey lives in does. When the Daisies had music, Sasha, Ryan Q., Mason made shamrock after shamrock and couldn't get enough glitter. Luca and Ryan Q. added to the Daisies structure by building an airplane in the center.

When everyone came back together, Isabel, Ava and Margot created a castle. However, before anyone was allowed to enter the castle, they had to dress-up in "fancy clothes." Many children dressed to impressed with fabric from dramatic play.

In the doctor's office, Ryan Casey, Matthew, Eli and Sam took on the doctor and nurse roles and Ava was the patient. She said her stomach hurt and Eli was convinced it was because she ate too much. Then Ms. Erica came in with a very bad pain in her knee but no one seemed to care or help so she decided to head the hospital instead.

The children also discovered that there was finger paint at the easel. Isabel, Lukas, Evan, and Ryan Casey all made paintings as did Luca who made a picture of a face.

During lunch, the both classes switched jobs. The Daisies read Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late and the Sunflowers, per Mason's request, read Adding Animals and added the animals in the book one by one until we reached 8.
