When the children came in this morning, they flocked to the doctor's office. Ryan, Sam and Ava were doctors, Rebecca and Lukas were patients and Eli took on the new job of office manager. During morning meeting we talked about the new job, our new medical tools cabinet and clarified some of the roles/jobs in the office.
After our discussion, we read Pete the Cat and His Magic Blue Sunglasses which Eli said was "the silliest book I ever saw" and then we had dance with Elizabeth. Today we practiced making letters with our body, however the children were not so attentive and we hope they will do better next week.
During work time, Ava, Ashley and Isabel went right to work mixing flour and paint. They sat for awhile mixing the flour into the paint and then adding more flour. They all concluded that the paint got thicker. Then they moved from the flour painting to gluing felt onto the bear costume for our play. Later on, Eli, Jake, Evan, Sam and Lukas made flour paintings. Eli said, "it's gooey."
Meanwhile in the block area, Oliver and Ryan made a castle for "the royal princess." Nearby, Sam and Alex began a birdhouse for Lightning that included a living room, bath room and slide. Soon Oliver and Ryan joined in and helped add details to Lightning's house. Rebecca brought out Lightning who got very cozy and took a nap on top of the structure.
Evan, Jake and Eli worked in the sand box and Jake, Lukas worked with SuJey at the table with playdough.
During lunch we read Evan's show and tell book about trains, boats, planes and trucks. The Sunflowers read Shy Charles and To Market, To Market which the whole class requested.
