The BMS gardening crew

At morning meeting we had a lot to talk about. First we talked about SuJey leaving next week and that we will have a small celebration for her. Then we talked about the exciting week we have planned next week! The children became extremely giddy when we told them about all the activities, starting with Monday as silly day. They all  have lots of ideas as to what they will wear! After talking about Week of the Young Child, we took out the Root Viewer that Sher donated to us and we talked about what we might see if we plant seeds in the soil. Then we talked about where to put the seeds so that they could grow. Ryan Q said it should be placed outside, "so it has space" and Oliver said "outside because it needs rain." The children also made predictions about what we might see as the plants started to grow.

Directly after morning meeting, we were surprised by Mason's mom, Shari, who read us The Nose That Didn't Fit and Never Take a Shark to the Dentist which were both great books.

Lakshmi came and worked with one group and talked about the different bones in our bodies. While the Daisies had yoga, Margot, Mason, Sasha and Jake worked on a birthday gift for Ashley, while Tate, Ryan and Luca worked at the sand table and then Luca started to build a "large bad airplane" with the blocks. "I'm making an airplane- want to help me?" Luca asked Jake, who happily obliged.

When we switched, the Daisies went outside in the front of the building and watered the flowers to find garbage in the soil! The children were appalled, as were we and so we decided to make signs for the boxes that said, NO GARBAGE PLEASE. Lukas, Isabel, Evan and Oliver were pretty mad about the garbage and were intent on making signs and placing their signs in the flowers.

At the end of the morning we went out front with water color, chalk, dot dots and relax on a large blanket. We planted more flowers and had a pretend picnic in the sun. Even Lightning joined in.

During lunch the Daisies played the sticker game and the Sunflowers decided they wanted to hear an oral story instead of a written one today. Rebecca told/acted out Little Red Riding Hood which thrilled the children.
