This morning we were abuzz with activity with Sam and Eli painting at the easel, everyone working to finish Tate's birthday present and start Ashley's, creating clay sculptures and a full breakfast buffet prepared in the dramatic play area. After we said good morning, we had an especially surprising, surprise reader, ISABEL!!!! She was a little nervous at first, but with some reassurance from Mom, Isabel read The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse to the entire class all by herself. Everyone was very impressed!
The Sunflowers and Daisies had dance together with Elizabeth and afterwards, we had a meeting about recycling. We sorted recyclables and then went across the street to recycle plastic, glass and a plastic bag at Integral Yoga. Then we walked to the flower store to pick out flowers for our window boxes. Flower in tow, we headed back to school to plant them.
Ryan, Sam, Alex, Lukas, Evan and Eli were very enthusiastic planters. After potting the flowers, they watered them and helped install them in the windows. Meanwhile, in the writing center, Ashley founded a hair salon that eventually morphed into a doctor's office. After styling Ava and Isabel's hair, the children decided more than a haircut, Ava really needed a full body cast which they created from blue construction paper.
The two classes had lunch together and enjoyed each other's company and conversation.
