After we sang Hello, How are You? we admired the Rorschach-esque butterflies we made for the park. They reminded the children of a fire, fangs and flowers. Then we acted our The Bear Book, which continues to improve incrementally.
While the Daisies (plus Ashley) had French, the Sunflowers planned for Ashley's upcoming birthday. There was heated debate about what gift to make for her; many children wanted to make various sweets, but we finally decided on creating a portrait of her dressed as a princess. After this discussion, Sasha, Ashley, Margot and Ava made clay sculptures. Jake, Tate and Luca collaborated on making a plane in the block area that took Rebecca to Greece.
When the two groups switched, the block area was booby trapped by Ryan Casey, Oliver, Alexander, Sam, Evan and Matthew. Oliver's booby trap impaled Rebecca and Evan's was a spider that wrapped its victims in a web.
We then went as a school to Jackson Square Park to meet with the gardener, Nancy, and hang up our butterflies. Then we had a little bit of time to run around and play. Finally, Nancy pointed out some of the new buds and flowers blossoming in the park.
During lunch, the Sunflowers read one of our favorites, I Ain't Gonna Paint No More. The Daisies read Do's and Don'ts.
