Easter eggs at BMS

Since so many children were fascinated with Evan's book about emergency vehicles when they first came in to school, we said hello by singing Around and around and said our favorite vehicle. We reminded the children that we will be on spring break and won't be seeing each other next week. Then, we were lucky to have Luca's aunt, Lilian, come in to read us two books about trains which the children adored.

We had an Easter egg hunt in the Sunflowers classroom before the two groups divided for yoga. While one group had yoga, the other read Bunny Loves to Write with Sujey. Then Lukas, Eli, Oliver, Ashley and Ava made Easter eggs with watercolor and Eli, Margot, Oliver and Sam did their April self-portraits.

Once both groups had yoga, we took a trip to Jackson Square Park in search of Nancy, the gardener, to deliver more butterflies that we made. Although we did not find Nancy, the children noticed the blooming magnolias, tulips, crocuses, tiny spider and ant. The children were captivated by the ants and Eli, Luca, Ashley and Ryan had a brief discussion about whether or not ants make sounds and what sort of noise an ant would make.

When we returned to school, the Ryan shared his show and tell and the Sunflowers read the unanimously requested, Three Little Pigs. The Daisies took a poll of what they had for lunch and read Corduroy's Easter.
