Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel

Today we celebrated the fifth day of Hanukkah! During circle time, we first talked about what we did and what we ate over our Thanksgiving break. Then we talked about what Hanukkah is and how we celebrate it. We read Eight Hanukkah Lights and pointed out the menorahs, dreidels and gelt we saw in the book.

While Evan sang with the Sunflowers class, the Daisies class changed jobs and learned how to spin dreidels. Then they graphed how many seconds they could spin a dreidel. Afterwards the two classes switched.

We were so excited to have Eli's mom, Alison, and Mason's mom Shari come in today to make our class menorah and let us taste latkes and apple sauce, which were a big hit. In the Daisies room, there was also painting with dreidels and watercolor activities. We cleaned up early to read two books about dreidels that Alison and Shari brought in. We talked about what each of the Hebrew letters mean in the dreidel game.

During lunch the Daisies thought of words that start with the letter M and the Sunflowers changed jobs.

Happy Hanukkah and thank you to Alison and Shari for helping us celebrate!
