Happy Birthday Matthew!

Woah, another crazy, fun-filled morning! Earlier in the morning before clean-up Ryan Q, Mason, Ashley, Izzie, Sam, Ava and Tate worked on making birthday cards for Matthew and decorated a crown for him. Luca, Eli, Ashley, and Ryan Q. worked with the pie pieces to make circles. Luca arranged the pieces and said it was "a train." And Ryan Q, Margot and Eli made tracks in the block area.

We started off morning meeting by singing Rudolph and Jingle Bells. Margot was Rudolph and Mason played Santa. Then the birthday troll came out and tickled everyone's nose until she found Matthew. We sang Happy Birthday and all the children gave Matthew their cards and a gift they made for him (a portrait of Matthew out of construction paper).

While the Sunflower's had yoga Andreas, Lukas's Dad came in as our surprise reader and read Are you Grumpy Santa? to the Daisy's class. Then the Daisy's had yoga and Andreas and Meghan participated too!

When the doors opened Meghan decorated cookies with the children using sprinkles, a little frosting and other decorations. When the cookies were decorated, the children ate ONE cookie if they wanted.

On the rug in the Sunflower's room, Mason Margot, Luca Tate, and Ryan Q made structures with the connector straws. Luca made "an airplane" and Ryan Q. made "a magic spinner that shoots out water to put out fire in case of an emergency." Matthew and Tate spent much of the morning solving crimes, calling the police and putting out fires.

In the Daisy's classroom, Alex, Ryan C, Lukas, Sasha and Eli worked with Sandra using the play-dough she brought in. Sasha was intent on making her play-dough very flat by pounding it with her fist and using the roller.

During lunch Sandra read Are you Grumpy Santa? to the Sunflowers and Meghan read Goodnight goodnight construction site to the Daisies followed by more singing for Matthew's birthday.

Thank you to Andreas and Meghan for spending the morning with us!
