Let's paint ornaments!

Today Ryan Casey walked in and wanted to make something with popsicle sticks. We got out the glue and he started arranging them in square shapes. He made two squares and attached them together. At first he said it was a train but then he said it was a picture frame. Evan was intrigued and liked Ryan's idea and wanted to do it too.

During morning meeting Lukas helped "eat" cookies for our poem, 5 Holiday Cookies on a Plate by the Door and then we had another discussion about the rules regarding the circle time sensory toys. We read Pierre by Maurice Sendak and then the children acted it out. Oliver starred as Pierre, Jake was the vet, Ms. Erica was the mother, Nissa was the father and Ryan Casey was the vet.

After morning meeting during work time, Su Mei, Ashley's mom came in and painted holiday play dough ornaments with the children while Ms Erica worked on holiday traditions drawing with Sam, Ryan and Lukas.

On the rug, Alex, Jake and Lukas used the connector straws. Lukas, Alex and Sam made wands that turned people into grumpy Santa's. Then they went around saying. "I'm a grumpy Santa and I'm having a bad day."

Evan, Eli and Alex made easel paintings. Evan's painting was "a giant storm that can blow down brick buildings." Meanwhile Sam was pretending to be a rock star and Eli decided to build a stage for the two of them out of the hollow blocks. Jake was eager to jump in to help. Lukas was then inspire and decided to create a pirate ship out of the hollow blocks.

There must be holiday excitement in the air because Sam had to solve a lot of problems today!

During lunch the Sunflower's read Llama, Llama Holiday Drama and Jake did attendance addition and the Daisy's read, Mooseltoe.

Thank you so much to Su Mei for helping us paint our ornaments!
