We began our morning my reading a book we wrote about Ramonita. She will not be here as often so we talked with the children about this change. Then we talked about what we can do if we miss her. After this discussion, we talked about Lightning and the pictures that are up on the board (of Lightning in the houses). Izzie explained to the class that Lightning came out of her cage yesterday and tried out the houses the children made for her.
While the Sunflowers had French, the Daisies graphed how many seconds they could spin the dreidel for. Then Matthew, Sam, Alex and Ryan made menorahs out of model magic and popsicle sticks and painted them. Izzie and Lukas explored the ublick on the light table and Evan worked at the sand table and Oliver spent some time rolling up paper and taping yarn to it.
While the Daisies had French, many of the children in the Sunflowers class made their December self-portraits. Elsewhere in the room there was a lot of collaboration with Margot and Mason in the dollhouse area, Luca and Ava make castle-houses with magnatiles and Ashley and Jake reading together. Near the end of the morning, Ryan Q. requested musical instruments and the Sunflowers class jammed together.
Then we all took a walk to Jane street to purchase our tree!
