Corn syrup paintings and birdhouse decorations

During morning meeting today we sang songs and then the "long birdhouse committee" showed the rest of the class all the work they have been doing. Then Ava and Ashley showed the class their birdhouse they have been working on. After morning meeting Ms. Rebecca read the children Little Red Riding Hood.

During work time, the "castle birdhouse" was painted. Jake, Ashley, Sam and Alex helped and then Evan joined. When they were finished, Evan, Izzie and Lukas drew tiny pictures for the "long birdhouse" and hung them on the house.

Meanwhile, Ashley, Jake and Isabel painted with corn syrup and watercolor both on the light table and on the class table. Ava created an origami sailboat and then decided she needed magnatiles to create "a beach with towels" on it. She covered the entire sensory table board with the tiles.

Ryan C, Lukas and Oliver spent some time in the writing center where they rolled up paper and taped the pieces together. Ryan and Oliver made a banana shooter with their pieces of paper and then Lukas joined. Lukas shot nunerous bananas at the teachers and the children! Alex called out to Lukas, "Shoot one to me!" Then Ryan added an apple, pear and orange shooter to his.

On the rug, Alexander worked for a long time on making a birdhouse for Lightning. Alexander included a playground and a few perches for her as well as rugs for her to walk on and sleep on. Sam went to the writing center and worked on drawing pictures for her. Jake made a structure he called "California" nearby. He was excited to show Rebecca how he could use two triangles to make a square.

During reflection meeting in the Daisies class Sam and Alex had an opportunity to share their structure with the class. And during lunch the Daisies class read, The Mitten and the Sunflowers class read a total of 4 books, with the children still requesting more.
