Checking out the Sweet Peas classroom

This morning during our morning meeting we talked about spending holidays with family, friends and loved ones. Then we went around and talked about who we love. Most children said they loved their Mom, Dad Grandparents and their siblings. Tomorrow we will each start drawing our loved ones on paper. When everyone has completed their picture, we will put them all together to make a family quilt. During morning meeting we also talked what we noticed in the corn syrup paintings. The children thought they were not dry since these paintings dry shiny.

After morning meeting we had dance with Elizabeth followed by surprise reader! Sam was all smiles when he saw his Mom walk in and he gave her a great big hug. Frances read us Dragons Love Tacos and the children loved the book. Thanks for coming in!

While the Sweet Peas were on a trip to The Guitar Center, the children in the Daisies and Sunflowers classes took advantage of the space. Even though the teachers set up some intriguing provocations on the floor, to our surprise most of the children were not interested. Instead, Evan, Ryan and Lukas used the puzzle piece bases as boats and Alexander built a playground for Lightning out of blocks and wooden pieces. He even drew a picture in the writing center for her house.

Almost all the children had a chance to explore the sandbox today and Sam and Ava spent some time decorating one of the houses for Lightning, complete with popsicles for her to eat and a surfboard to ride. At one point Izzie and Lukas had dinner together at the table. She had a camera in her hand and I asked her "why she needed a camera while she was eating" and she said, "I'm an older married person that's why!" Ava, Ashley and Jake played doctor on the rug and Ashley gave Ava a lot of blankets to help her feel better. Isabel and Oliver also painted with water color and corn syrup.
