Happy Birthday Isabel!

Hip-hip-hooray! It was Isabel's birthday in school today! As soon as Isabel walked into school Ava exclaimed, "Well hello birthday girl!"

Isabel's mom, Shannon joined us for morning meeting where Isabel chose how she wanted to sing good morning to her friends, we sang her Happy Birthday and played two rounds of the birthday troll game. The children gave Isabel the birthday cards they made and presented her with her Frozen-inspired birthday portrait. Then we relocated to the Daisies room to listen to Isabel's mom read one of the newest Piggy and Elephant books by Mo Willems- it was a crowd pleaser!

In honor of Isabel's birthday we worked on some of her favorite activities today including painting on a real artist easel with acrylic paint on canvas. The children also made a collaborative collage with corn syrup and watercolor paint, flowers and glitter. At the other table, the children helped Ms. Erica make some messy ubleck. Then nearly the entire class cuddled up with Shannon to read The Day the Crayons Quit.

Before show and tell, the whole school had a big birthday dance party where everyone who wanted had the opportunity to dance on the tables! After our dance party and show and tell, the Daisies and Sunflowers had lunch together; Shannon read on of Isabel's favorite Frozen books and then everyone enjoyed homemade Frozen ice castle cupcakes.

Thanks so much to Shannon for joining us this morning, reading 3 books to the classes and providing the yummy dessert!
