A day in the park

The Daisies had their own morning meeting to talk about what they wanted to be when they grew up. We first talked about different professions and what people do all day. Then we read part of Richard Scarry's What do People Do all Day? and commented on the different professions. Then we looked at pictures and tried to guess what profession each picture represented i.e., chef, painter, dentist, gardener. Meanwhile, the Sunflowers and Sweet Peas joined forces for their own morning meeting in which they also talked about graduation, especially what exactly it means to graduate.

Next, the whole school got together to practice our graduation songs and the Daisies stood up one by one to announce what they wanted to be when they grew up.

Afterwards, the whole school went out to the park! There was a very inclusive Sunflowers/Daisies tag game where all the children (and even some teachers) were welcome. Eli told Rebecca, "This is getting serious." When Rebecca asked, "what is?", Eli clarified, "All the running!" Ryan Casey, Isabel and Lukas tried the monkey bars for the first time.

We got back to school just in time for show and tell and lunch. In the Sunflowers room, Jake asked Rebecca, "Can we read Frog and Toad every day for the rest of school?" and we read another chapter from the Frog and Toad anthology. The Daisies looked at Purple Cake Day pictures on the monitor and read In the Night Kitchen.
