Getting ready for graduation

We had many sickly cats in school today. First Ryan, Evan, Sam, Eli and Jake made their own clocks that kept switching time. Somehow, their was a wrinkle in the space-time continuum and they all transformed into cats in desperate need of medical attention. Isabel and Ava were happy to comply, taking turns administering medicine and reading them books in cat language.

The two classes divided for morning meeting. The Daisies changed jobs for the last time and talked about how they feel about graduating and going to another school. Most children said they felt sad and some said happy.  Oliver said, "I am excited to get big so I can do other things." Then as the conversation went most children said they never want to Buckle My Shoe. Then we talked about what to do if we miss BMS. Ryan suggested inviting friends over to play and Lukas said he could draw a picture. Isabel thought we could send a postcard. I also reminded the children that they could come and visit whenever they want and they could look at their portfolios! Then we read Kindergarten Rocks!

The Sunflowers and Sweet Peas joined forces and talked briefly about the schedule for tomorrow and some of their feelings about graduation. Then we read I Know a Shy Fellow Who Swallowed a Cello.

We had a joint freeplay in the Daisies and Sweet Peas rooms. At one table, Alex, Eli, Lukas and Oliver helped Rebecca make play dough and then Ava, Ashley and Evan came over to help make pizzas and cakes out of it. At the other table, Evan, Oliver, Ava and Ashley worked on making Isabel's birthday present with permanent markers and watercolor paint. Jake was also at the table making a card for Isabel's birthday.

On the rug, Jake and Sam collaborated with the Legos to create their own subway station. Evan, Ava and Ashley were also busy building a witch house out of magnatiles. "I love building!" Evan declared.

The Sweet Peas joined the Sunflowers for show and tell and lunch, where they read two Frog and Toad stories. The Daisies read Get Set For Kindergarten.
